Bull Trout Scenario Analysis Tool
Project Overview:Using our unique analytical skillset and expertise, we designed and developed a cumulative effects assessment tool for at-risk Bull Trout. The tool allows the BC Ministry of Environment (MOE) to assess the impact of potential changes to management or land use practices on Bull Trout population numbers, and helps guide their often complex management decisions.
- Client: BC Ministry of the Environment
- Location: BC
- Duration: 2012 - 2013
- The Challenge: Providing a tool to test the potential impact of different management actions, to varying degrees of severity, on a Bull Trout population, a species of special concern in BC.
-
Campbell River Water License Requirements Monitoring Studies
Project Overview:Ecofish was selected by Laich-Kwil-Tach Environmental Assessments Limited Partnership (LKT) in Campbell River to support them to deliver BC Hydro’s Campbell River System Water Use Plan (WUP) monitoring programs.
- Client: Laich Kwil Tach Environmental Assessment Limited Partnership, BC Hydro
- Location: Campbell River, Vancouver Island
- Duration: 2014 - ongoing
- The Challenge: Evaluating key uncertainties in support of improved operating of hydroelectric facilities in the Campbell River System, a complex system of lakes, reservoirs and streams.
-
Upper Lillooet Hydro Project Terrestrial and Aquatic Environmental Assessment
Project Overview:We provided scientifically defensible studies, assessments, and innovative, environmentally sustainable solutions to support Innergex Renewable Energy Inc. and their prime contractor, CRT-ebc, in the development of two run-of-the-river hydroelectric facilities.
- Client: Innergex Renewable Energy Inc., CRT-ebc
- Location: Squamish-Lillooet Regional District northwest of Pemberton, BC
- Duration: 2009 - ongoing

-
John Hart Generating Station Replacement
Project Overview:The John Hart Generating Station is one of Vancouver Island’s most important generating facilities. Built in 1947, it required replacement and modernization work to be more efficient and reliable. Ecofish provided key fisheries and environmental services for the Environmental Assessment (EA).
- Client: BC Hydro
- Location: Campbell River, Vancouver Island
- Duration: 2010 - 2014
- The Challenge: Providing environmental assessment services to ensure that valuable fish and fish habitat are not at risk in the event of a facility shutdown.
-
Kokish River Fish Monitoring Program
Project Overview:We designed a five-year post-construction fish monitoring program to monitor the effects of the Kokish River hydroelectric project on the fish community over the long-term. We addressed the challenges and evaluated specific management questions put to us by the client.
- Client: Kwagis Power Limited Partnership
- Location: Port McNeill, Vancouver Island
- Duration: 2012 - ongoing
- The Challenge: Assessing the Kokish River hydroelectric project-related effects on fish production given a number of variables that complicate fish community monitoring
-
Crabapple Creek Rainbow Trout Habitat Enhancement
Project Overview:Spawning and rearing habitat for Rainbow Trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) was created to offset predicted habitat losses resulting from hydroelectric development in Whistler, BC. The project generated additional benefits for Kokanee Salmon (Oncorhynchus nerka), Bull Trout (Salvelinus confluentus), and other fish species, to offset predicted habitat losses resulting from hydroelectric development
- Client: Innergex Renewable Energy Inc.
- Location: Whistler, BC
- Duration: 2013 - ongoing
- The Challenge: Providing habitat enhancement to offset the predicted habitat losses from the Fitzsimmons Creek Hydroelectric Project in Whistler, BC
