At Ecofish, safety is our number one priority. That’s why we’re extremely proud our recent certification with the BC Forest Safety Council of BC (BCFSC). As of May 24, 2017, Ecofish is now designated as a SAFE (Safety Accord Forestry Enterprise) certified company, which means we believe in the Safety Accord and its principles:
• We believe that all fatalities and injuries are preventable.
• We believe in a culture where the health and safety of all workers is an over-riding priority.
• We believe that excellence in health and safety is important to our long-term success.
This certification is a result of three years of work by the Ecofish Safety team who diligently reviewed and updated our safety program. Working with the BCFSC, our Ecofish team took steps to ensure the effectiveness and efficiency of our safety program, while improving our culture of safety.
The BCFSC is a health and safety association that helps organizations improve their safety performance to industry standards. The BCFSC also evaluates company safety programs using industry recognized audit protocols. Organizations that are SAFE certified must display a continued commitment to safety practices and codes in order to remain Certified. Certification requires annual safety audits to be completed and submitted to the BCFSC.
To be SAFE Certified with the BCFSC means that Ecofish and our employees have undergone the necessary training and safety management system audit, and uphold the highest safety practices and codes. We are committed to maintaining this safety standard and believe that this foundation will ensure Ecofish continues to be a leader in safety in our industry.
The BCFSC is also a certifying partner for the WorkSafeBC (WCB) certificate of recognition (COR). This program encourages employers to create and maintain a Health and Safety program that goes beyond the current WCB legal requirements. Through our SAFE certification, we have also obtained our COR certification with WorkSafeBC.
