Last week, four of Ecofish’s leading scientists attended the world’s largest Hydro event, HydroVision 2016 in Minneapolis, MN. An action packed affair, Ecofish hosted a booth, attended networking receptions and participated in an array of fantastic presentations.
Attendees included President and Senior Fisheries Biologist Adam Lewis, and Fisheries Biologists Dr. Todd Hatfield, Dr. Andrew Harwood, and Eric Smyth, all of whom submitted technical papers weighed against some of the very best in the hydro industry. After executing four stellar presentations, we received some BIG news…Ecofish was awarded both first AND second for Best Technical Papers in the ‘Environment and Social’ category!
Second place was awarded to Dr. Andrew Harwood for ‘Managing Response of Resident Rainbow Trout to Water Diversion at Run-of-River Projects,’ while first place went to Ecofish President Adam Lewis for ‘Managing Flow Ramping Operations at Run-of-River Hydroelectric Projects.’
Other papers presented by Ecofish were ‘A Comparison of Desktop Hydrologic Methods for Determining Environmental Flows’ by Senior Ecofish Biologist, Dr. Todd Hatfield, and ‘Critical Thinking to Optimize Fish Passage Design at Hydropower Projects’ by Fisheries Biologist Eric Smyth.
HydroVision is a forum where professionals come together to carve out better solutions for hydropower and to continue to pave the way for renewable energy; it was a refreshing and well-orchestrated conference. Thank you to HydroWorld for having us, we can’t wait for next year!
